- ◄How do Aquatabs water purification tablets work?
- Each Aquatabs tablet contains a measured dose of Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate, commonly referred to as NaDCC. When added to water Aquatabs dissolve to release a measured dose of hypochlorous acid (free available chlorine) that is universally recognized as a safe and effective water disinfectant.
- ◄What are the ingredients in Aquatabs?
- The ingredients in Aquatabs are Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate / NaDCC (Troclosene Sodium) equivalent to 5 mg/L free available chlorine, Sodium Bicarbonate, Adipic Acid, Sodium Carbonate.

- Yes, Aquatabs are one of the few water purification tablets on the market today which are certified to NSF / ANSI 60. The active ingredient in Aquatabs, Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC), is also registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for routine treatment of drinking water, meets European Standards for drinking water (EN12931:2000) and World Health Organization (WHO)/The Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) specs for drinking water. The packaging and shelf life of Aquatabs has been verified through stability studies performed to the International Conference on Harmonization Guidelines (ICH).

- Aquatabs take less than one minute to completely dissolve once placed into water and leave no residue or sediment. Length of time may vary depending on water temperature.
- ◄How soon can you drink water after treating with Aquatabs?
- After 10 minutes of mixing, the water will be ready for use after being left to stand for 30 minutes. Please see the product insert included with each product for more information.
- ◄Can Aquatabs be used in cloudy or extremely dirty water with high levels of sediment and/or organic matter?
- The more sediment and/or organic matter within the water to be treated, the more chances that bacteria, viruses and cysts will be able to “hide” from the chlorine disinfectant. As excessive amounts of disinfectant react with the sediment and/or organic matter, there may not be enough disinfectant to inactivate important contaminants such as bacteria and viruses. All water to be treated with Aquatabs should be clear of turbidity and colour or staining.
- ◄Do Aquatabs water purification tablets contain Iodine?
- No, Aquatabs do not contain Iodine. Iodine has been found to cause a number of side affects and health hazards when used as a water purification agent, notably when used by pregnant women and/or when used on a long term basis. Iodine also produces a negative taste and colours the water.

- Yes, Aquatabs produce safe levels of free available chlorine suitable for long term use.
- ◄Is water treated with Aquatabs safe for use by children and pregnant women?

Please refer to the expiry date printed on each strip of 10 tablets (MM/DD/YY). In most cases, Aquatabs purchases here will have at least 4 years of shelf life remaining, often times considerably more.

- ◄Are Aquatabs effective against the cysts Giardia and Cryptosporidium?
- When used as directed, Aquatabs are effective against Giardia cysts (in addition to bacteria and viruses) but have not been proven effective against Cryptosporidium. When Cryptosporidium is of concern, please filter the water to 1 micron absolute or finer before treatment with Aquatabs. Please note that most pump or gravity based water filters are effective against cysts and bacteria but are NOT effective against viruses. If there is a chance of viruses in the water being filtered, treat with Aquatabs after filtration. Aquatabs are very effective at inactivating viruses. Please note that chemical purifiers that are effective at inactivating Cryptosporidium often require a 4 hour or greater contact time and will produce what most consider an unpalatable taste and colour.
